“Like the generations of leaves, the lives of mortal men. Now the wind scatters the old leaves across the earth, now the living timber bursts with the new buds and spring comes round again. And so with men: as one generation comes to life, another dies away.”

The Veteran and the Rookie Frigate Fighter and the Lost Art of Lovemaking
Somewhere in a New Eden chat channel, circa YC 114.
Living in the wake of the Great Frigate Revolution, all that he craved were the answers to the many questions he had buzzing around in his mind. Scraps of paper littered the desk in front of him, some seemingly no longer making any sense, mixed in with the graphs and charts and various other forms of data. To the untrained eye it probably looked like some kind of messy shorthand.

The Burnt Lands Evolved
Many downtimes ago now back in July 2010, a good friend of mine, Mr Snypes, the Intergalactic Man of Leisure, penned the following words on low sec with the title 'The Burnt Lands'.
Low sec in EVE reminds me of an inner city ghetto. Kids with ski masks ganging up on someone and threatening to stick em if he doesn't give up his chain and the $5 in his wallet. Pimped out "economy" class space ships flying around because nice rides get left on a stack of bricks with nothing left but the stale air freshener you were supposed to change 5 months ago. Seedy people hanging outside the stations wearing aviators, smoking a cigarette, eyeing people up until they see someone weak enough they can take his pocket change to get themselves a cup of coffee. You all get the idea.

What is a Frigate Junkie?
A little brainstorming session in a random fashion of traits, habits and stereotypes that I think most frigate pilots will be able to relate to. Perhaps you find yourself nodding your head in agreement or disagreeing slightly. Maybe I have missed some really obvious ones or you have something else that you'd consider worthy of making the list. It would be great to hear other people's thoughts on their profession or maybe even from people who don't do frigates.

[SKRMR] World Champions
It seems so long ago now when the stars first aligned and the fiery winds cut across the barren foot of a snowy Mount SKRMR back in March 2013 when only five pilots contested the first ever SKRMR World Killboard Championship, a world away from today's hectic struggle as some 21 pilots jostle for pole position each month at the top of the blood-spattered leaderboard.

The Four Atrons of the Apocalypse
The Four Atrons of the Apocalypse are described in the last Book of SKRMR, called the Book of Atrons. The chapter tells of a book held in Miura's right hand that is sealed with seven seals. The Lion of Rifter (Wensley), opens the first four of the seven seals, which summons four beings that ride out on white, red, black, and pale atrons. Although some interpretations differ, in most accounts, the four riders are seen as the beginning of a new age in frigate combat and the symbolizing of Conquest, War, Famine, and Death, respectively. The Screaming Hayabusa apocalyptic vision is that the four atrons are to set a divine apocalypse upon New Eden as harbingers of the Last Judgement.

Fight Like A Brave
I've never quite managed to understand the mindset of pilots who habitually use link-alts in a 1v1 frigate fight environment, it's most definitely an alien concept to me. Maybe I'm just odd, or too hardcore and masochistic to feel I need those extra numbers on my side, I dunno. Now I can just about admit that okay those boosts are fine if you're one heroic mad bastard solo duder taking on a pack of let's say 5 or 6 mutant F1 pressing attack zombies. Or even a gang of 3 or 4 'elite' warriors banding together with boosts as they slay a gang of multiple hostile things turning red in orchestrated regimented barrel rolling high-octane combat situations.

And we set the ship aflame
Today a good friend of many in the lowsec frigate community has handed in his wings and left the game for good. I know we all say we'll be back but Ilik Tanikalot has flirted with leaving in the past and while he has 'sort of' left and come back before, this time it is for real and all his toons have now passed into new ownership.

21 Daredevil Salute (part 1)
Over the months and years I had developed a habit of buying stables of ships that were scattered far and wide. I had noticed that with each shopping trip I'd throw in a couple of Daredevils here and there. Only I never really flew them and they were pretty much turning into novelty purchases. I had collected 21 Daredevils and had reached the conclusion that before they do something silly with the bonuses, I might as well burn them all in the name of all that is fun, madness, and an overheated pair of light neutron blasters.
This is my Daredevil story, my log of destruction ... my 21 Daredevil Salute.

Wormhole Adventure: The Final Curtain
The wormhole adventure was now all but over. It had been quite an experience and had thrown up many new areas of gameplay that we hadn't experienced before. We had stories and memories aplenty, some good and some bad, and so it was a mixed feeling of relief and sadness that we were finally leaving behind the hole.

Wormhole Adventure: The Tower of Pain
The end was near. All ships marked for evacuation were now safely stored out of the wormhole. All that was left was to finalise the sale of the wormhole and hot foot it out of there. We pick up the story with Duke, just as he is dismantling the POS.

Wormhole Adventure: Evacuation
Vincent R'lyeh and Miura Bull were tasked with the evacuation of the remaining ships that were in the wormhole. Vincent explains what went down on the evacuation op ...

Wormhole Adventure: Moving Out
It seemed strange that we now had the wormhole to ourselves. We'd spent over a month down the hole now and I think deep down our heart wasn't really in it any more. We longed for our tech 1 frigates and chasing those pesky plex farmers!

Wormhole Adventure: An Indirect Eviction?
It had been quiet for a few days now after the incident in and around Istodard. The war dec had now expired and our general levels of wormhole activity were somewhat dwindling.
23 Jan 2014
Wormhole Adventure: Istodard Exit
We'd had a bubble camp on the hole for about an hour or so before those involved had to log off and do other things. We'd had no traffic so it was disappointing to end the session with no kills. Our lowsec exit in the C3 led into Istodard in Molden Heath, the home system of Calamitous-Intent.

Wormhole Adventure: Stick or Twist?
After a few days of repairing their damaged modules and us debating our next move, our adorable neighbours played their hand first and built a brand new POS. This time it was very well defended, a Large Amarr Control Tower with all the trimmings.

Wormhole Adventure: The POS Bash
So much for the beginning; so much for the end, foreshadowed, perhaps, at the burning control tower, when we see the men cowering beneath their shields, their leader crazy with talk, wounded and covering his bloodied face with his white-gloved hands. In the distance a Hound wreck smoulders.

Wormhole Adventure: Night Hunt
Wolf Rayet’s light shines full
silver on blood-red
coating the shadows
populating the space by the control tower
where I wait, knowing.
The stars, tiny punctures
in the ink black eternity
announce our arrival.

Wormhole Adventure: Plan of Action
We had decided to move in some heavy gear and strike the enemy POS. We now felt that we were in this deep enough that there was only one option. We had to remove these guys from the wormhole.
14 Jan 2014
Wormhole Adventure: Fortress Upgrade
In the middle of the night Duke had dismantled the majority of our POS and had begun setting up our new POS, an evil monster of a POS. Our new home would be much better defended. A Large Sansha Control Tower with an entire arsenal of lasers, jammers and other nasty bits would await our neighbours when they looked over the fence in the morning.

Wormhole Adventure: Site Runners
Mostly we ran the sites in the C3 with a Tengu and Legion, and later Tengu and Loki. We also had a Sleipnir with us on occasion. We would pretty much blitz our way through the sites working as a team, salvaging the materials and then leaving with our booty. It was a relaxing way to make some ISK I remember thinking to myself. It was also efficient enough, for the most part.

Wormhole Adventure: The Eyes of the Enemy
For over a week now we had been playing a game of cat and mouse with our neighbours. It seemed all they did was sit in their POS. They probably thought the same about us.

Wormhole Adventure: Gateway to the Unknown
The beauty of wormhole life runs deep, but it isn't just down the holes where the scenery is stunning. The revolving doors lifestyle of the opening and closing of exits to far and distant lands meant that access to these new lands was only a few probe hits away. At times it felt like I was spinning a wheel that would give me the chance to step into a different part of New Eden at my choosing.

Wormhole Adventure: Lady Luck
A few days into the stay and people were starting to get settled. The routine of logging on, scanning the new holes and sites and then updating the map was, well, just that, the routine. We'd ran a few sites already and it was nice to be dealing in this new currency of sleeper loot.

Wormhole Adventure: Moving In
The station was eerily quiet but for the buzz of something in the distance. I couldn't tell what it was, a machine of some sorts, background noise, just noticeable. Outside, the late afternoon dwindled in that strange old way, the sun baking the cracked walls of the old station, then as the afternoon died and the cold set in everything seemed, golden. A slanted golden sunlight on that familiar blue-green sky. It was all nice and homely, soft and warm.
