Introducing the RSOP (R1FTA Standard Operating Procedures)
During normal hours of business, the Black Rebel Rifter Club uses a set of guidelines known as 'Standard Operating Procedures' (SOP), typically referred to as "the R1FTA SOP" (RSOP).
These are part of a carelessly put together doctrine based on not much experience and is mainly geared towards a barbaric approach to life, it is intended to keep members unsafe and impart the knowledge necessary to explode as many ships as is physically possible whether that be our own or others (NBD), while bringing fights to a quick close by providing entertainment and profit value to the enemy, minimising frustration and providing excitement value to the enemy at every chance we get. To that end, the RSOP is intended to:
Give the enemy easy kills of helpless non-combat ships.
Give the enemy easy kills of poorly-fitted ships.
Give the enemy any kills of high-value ships.
Give the enemy any chance to banter or smack talk with us.
Give the enemy enjoyment from the conflict.
The RSOP applies to all members when the OMGWTFUNDOCK level is set as R1FTACON 1. While this is typically during hostile play-time, it may also be applied during peacetime under extreme circumstances. Peacetime is classified as the system being 'blue' to the Rebels, at this point pilots are encouraged to undock and kill each other.
The below rules are as unclear as they can be made, and if you require clarification, then tough luck, please make them up for yourself, anybody bothering a Director may be kicked from the corp. There are lots of hidden meanings, and anything not listed here is likely part of the RSOP but we forgot to put it in.
In the event you make a mistake, then you should brag about it in corp chat and bask in the praise, rather than attempting to hide away your heroics, as you will typically find joyous laughter and back slaps awaiting you. At most, issues arising from mistakes tend to result in the person involved being temporarily thrown into a low-sec top belt for their own safety.
You must be undocked unless you are...
...spinning ships
Nuff said, spinning ships is cool, man.
...chatting trash in public channels
You don't have to be able to speak sense, extra points for trolling. If something happens, you need to be able to communicate it quickly, or at least receive instruction for response quickly. Adding gifs or memes to your silly views is encouraged.
You must fly...
There are no restrictions on what ships you are allowed to fly during an active RSOP. If you don't want to fly one of these ships, then you must receive written permission from a Director (unless a bribe is included your request is likely to be rejected).
...ships with T2 rigs, or faction or better modules (the more expensive the lossmail the better cos faction on your lossmail is cool, man)
Tech 2 Rigs are highly encouraged. The shield ones cost shit loads and make you look all pr0. They also add a bit more stuff to your stats.
'Faction or better' means any module other than Tech 1, Tech 2 and 'Meta' - in other words Faction, Storyline, Deadspace, or Officer modules. Pimp that ship yo! Shinier the better!
...'Covert Ops' combat ships
These are ships which can fit a Covert Ops Cloak and designed for combat, such as:
Stealth Bombers-Lolpoints if you lose it to a Rifter.
Force Recons
The Tech 2 'Covert Ops Frigates' should be flown head first into the nearest gate-camp.
...Tech 2 BattleCruisers or Battleships
Command Ships-Fly into busy null-sec systems like a BAUSS.
Marauders-What's a marauder again?
Black Ops-Battlefit those Black Ops for added points.
...Tech 3 ships
Strategic Cruisers-Everybody loves a T3 lossmail.
...Mining Ships
This includes the specialised mining ships, such as:
Barges
Exhumers
Orca
Rorqual
If you really must mine, you should use any of the above and fit it for BATTAL, you MUST close local chat and the directional scanner, deploy mining drones and attack anything that warps into you
...Haulers
This is any ship which is designed to move large amounts of cargo around, such as:
Industrials, including the Noctis
Blockade Runners
Deep Space Transports
Freighters
Jump Freighters
If you need to move items, you should blindly jump into any system that is likely gate-camped. It adds an extra notch of excitement to your game. All of the above should be fit for combat where possible.
...faction ships
Any ship with 'Issue' in the Name.
Any 'Pirate' faction ship.
Any other ship listed in the 'Faction' subsection on the Market. These ships should be flown with reckless abandon and should ideally be pimped to the teeth.
...rare or unique ships
This is any ship which has been seeded by CCP for which the blueprints are not publicly available for, such as:
Apotheosis
Echelon
Zephyr
Interbus Shuttle
Primae
... and various others. If you are lucky enough to own something that was an alliance tournament prize you should fly it until it burns.
You should fit...
...your ship for PvP (durr)
This depends greatly on the ship and what you plan to do, but usually means no Mining lasers, cargo expanders or exploration (Codebreaker, Analyser, etc) modules, along with a Buffer tank where appropriate, although if you really are looking for a lolmail then all of the above are highly encouraged. For relevant fittings use your fucking imagination.
...your guns and launchers inefficiently
This means using faction ammo where you can. Remember to always fill your cargo with more ammo than you need, no matter what the ammo type.
...a Tech 2 tank on BattleCruisers and Battleships
This means your tanking modules are mainly Tech 2, such as Hardeners, Extenders, and so on.
...your ship for its role
This should go without saying, but it means the modules on your ship should typically cost massively more than the value of the hull (faction, officer). Tackle frigates should be pimped to the teeth.
...appropriate rigs
Tech 1 Rigs on Frigates, Destroyers and Cruisers are mandatory.
Tech 1 Rigs on BattleCruisers and Battleships are required.
Tech 2 Rigs on all T2 ships are strongly suggested, especially Tech 2 frigs.
You should always...
...check the Local channel for Targets
Check it before you undock, and keep checking it whenever you are in space. Bads may appear at any moment.
...dock up if there are no Targets
If you don't see a Target in space or the local channel, then dock immediately, no waiting. It's ship spinning time baby!
...smartbomb Trade Hubs when bored
You should smartbomb Trade hubs when bored, and harvest tears as much as you can. Remember, you can use Trolling skills at your own discretion.
You should sometimes if you're extra bored...
...use the Autopilot to fly your ship
Autopilot can be a fun way to fly your ship, especially through hostile areas, it actually flies for you! This can sometimes prompt the enemy to attack your ship giving you chance to retaliate and p0wn the noobs.
...go AFK in space
Sometimes it is TEH FUNNEH to leave your ship unattended for long periods when in space. Live life to the full and NEVER dock up if you have to leave. If you are a scout or picket and need to take a short break, warp to a planet at zero and turn the volume to max. Never announce to the fleet that you are going AFK.
Combat Fleets...
...must have at least two R1FTA members
Well stone me, who'd have thought more than 1 member would make a fleet?
...should have no scout if possible
A scout is for pussies. Real fleets jump blind 'erry gate.
...should probably be on Vent with the FC able to talk
Fleets should probably be on voice communications, usually the Fleet Commander should be able to talk. Alternatively, if you can type real fast it also adds for more excitement and added danger to your fleets.
...must consist of anybody who wants to fleet
The more rag-tag the fleet the better.
...members must be impaired
This means in PvP, you have as many active accounts logged in as you can handle, multiple accounts are fun. Similarly, fleet members are encouraged to be tired (sleeping is for wimps) and/or intoxicated.
...must split loot as they deem fit
Meh who cares about loot?
You can...
There are a number of things which you can do during normal business hours apart from hunting Targets. These are some of them.
...travel around EVE
Travelling is defined as moving with no cargo (opposed to hauling) and should be done in a 'Fast Frigate', Shuttle or Starter Frigate. Travelling enables you to move from one place to another, sighting bads on the way.
...set-up and spar at the R1FTA POS
Setting up overviews, practising scanning and sparring should be done at the POS, as it will piss people off when they land on grid with you.
...run fleets in LoSec and NullSec
Just because there are no targets around doesn't mean there is nobody to fight. Take a fleet out to losec or nullsec, and see what you find. Remember to follow no Rules of Engagement.
...run Wormhole Operations
You may run combat sites in wormholes. Most wormholes are full of bads, find them and kill them.
...disrupt Incursions
Incursions are hideous, filthy, money making schemes most often run by bads. If you are unfortunate enough to stray into an Incursion zone, spam the channel with gifs and memes.
...suicide gank in a group
This is best done with four or more members, with at least one of them with an alt scout ship - remember that most mining ships are piloted by afk retards. Ideally, all ganking should be done in busy high-sec systems. Ensure that all fleet members keep a lookout in local for any bads, and nobody should leave system without spamming the local chat with memes and gifs first. Don't forget to use an alt to scoop up modules. Recycle those gank ships!
...station trade
Err yeah.
...leave R1FTA until you grow some balls
If you want to, you may leave R1FTA until you feel you are more comfortable with our haphazard nature. You will forfeit access to the vast majority of forum content, channels, fleets, and you will probably be trolled through recruitment when returning.
Travel Advisories
Travel Advisories may be declared by anybody, and are typically limited to a specific system or region likely to contain hostile activity.
An advisory means that all non-combat activity should cease and all pilots should head over unless they are ship spinning. Travel into or out of the advisory area should be done blindly and with all guns blazing.
Once the threat has been eliminated or you are in your clone bay or capsule, the Travel Advisory may be closed.
Practice and Patrols
All R1FTA members are encouraged to practice the RSOP at all times, even when there are no targets immediately available.
This can include (but is not limited to) sparring in space, patrolling high-traffic areas for bads, as well as practising fleet command and movement skills.
Members are also encouraged to keep a look-out for any other members who may not be following the RSOP, and are authorised to tackle any they encounter being a bad.
R1FTA Directors are authorised to order a single shot to be fired to 'wake up' a member who appears to be being a bad or is inattentive, followed by the potential destruction of their ship FOR TEH LULZ.
No time will be given before any actions are taken, and in the event an inattentive members ship is destroyed, the wreck should be destroyed too, and the killmail laughed at.
Why?
Because we are not Vogons.

A Failmail Friday
Just wanted to share this rather 'different' way of fitting out a Talos. I feel it is worthy of a wider audience.

The Correct Tools For The Job
A great way of maximising your potential in combat and especially in solo work and small gangs is to have the best tools available for the job. This is no real shock statement as such, it is quite obvious to all that the better your gaming platform and internet connection then quite rightly, the better your game will perform. Apart from running smoothly and minimising lag, it looks great too and whilst the visual aspect of EVE is cool there are other factors and equipment worth considering.
Gaming Mouse.
It is surprising how many people overlook the importance of a good gaming mouse. I can remember the first time I upgraded from my standard issue store mouse to a gaming mouse and it was quite an enlightening experience. For years I had thought of my mouse as just a point and click tool and I never really even considered the benefits that a good gaming mouse could bring to my gaming. It was only when I started playing EVE more and more that I realised how much quicker and smoother a gaming mouse makes your play style.
My current weapon of choice is the Roccat Kova +. I have tried 3 or 4 different brands but when I first used this mouse I was blown away by the feel and fluidity of it. As a recommendation I would advise not to order a mouse blindly over the net. Instead, make sure you visit a store and actually get a feel for the mouse in your hand. Some gaming mouses might fit comfortably for one person but be fiddly or too clunky for someone else. Try before you buy!
Gaming Pad.
It really isn't going to help your gaming now you've purchased your shiny new gaming mouse and you're using it on an old book or on your grubby desktop. A good mouse pad should be purchased with your new mouse. Currently I am using a Roccat Sense gaming pad. It is comfortable, feels smooth and optimises the performance of my mouse.
Mechanical Gaming Keyboard.
A mushy old standard keyboard just won't cut it when it comes to pvp. For one it feels horrible and also it will be less responsive to your input. In a fast-paced gaming arena where each clicking of a key could be the difference between a killmail and a lossmail it is vital to get your actions input as quickly and efficiently as possible.
But why a mechanical keyboard? A mechanical keyboard uses actual, physical switches underneath the keys to determine when you have pushed a key. Press a key, and you press its switch down. Press the switch down, and the keyboard sends a signal to the computer telling it that you pressed that key. In an instant, no pauses whatsoever.
Most ordinary keyboards are composed of a set of three plastic membranes, with rubber dome-shaped switches underneath each key. Press a key, and the rubber switch pushes through a hole in the middle membrane to connect the top and bottom membranes, which creates an electrical circuit that causes the keyboard to send the input to your rig. This kind of keyboard design is inexpensive and it doesn't give you as much tactile or audible feedback when you press a key, which can change the way you type and bog things down, especially when gaming.
Also, the 'thunking' sound from a mechanical keyboard is like music to the ears in comparison to the rubbery mess of a rubber dome keyboard. My advice would be to again pop down to your local store and bash some keys, it might not be noticeable at first to some, but after a few days of using a mechanical keyboard in EVE and for anything else for that matter you will never go back!
For reference, at the moment I am using a Razer BlackWidow keyboard.
Monitor.
Some good quality screen real estate can make for a more pleasurable viewing experience but it also makes for a better tactile approach to your gaming. A cluttered screen is bad form and the only real way to prevent this cluttered approach is to plug in a nice widescreen monitor. You don't need to go overboard by any means, something in the region of a 23" HD or LCD screen would be more than ideal.
Graphics Card.
To boost the performance of your rig and maximise your gaming experience, a top line graphics card can be more than just a visual improvement to your play time. Crisp, smooth and perfectly rendered graphics during combat is a real bonus. There is nothing worse than an old graphics card jumping or pausing when you are in a battle. There are so many different cards out there for a wide range of budgets so choosing one can be difficult. It really does boil down to what you can afford, what you want and what your machine can handle. A top range graphics card in a poorly spec'd rig is a bit like putting a 1 litre diesel engine into a Lamborghini. So choose wisely.
My current graphics card is the PNY GeForce GTX 550 Ti and it suits my machine perfectly.
I hope you found some of this information useful. It would be great to hear what other people use as their set up and even greater if one of you tells me you pvp on your laptop. So what powers your gaming? Are there any other essentials that you can't live without when it comes to pvp and EVE gaming?

Miura Bull > we also offer courses for rehabilitation if you would be interested in such a thing?
Reiko Kisaragi > rehabiliation? what

Miura Bull > okay I have to leave now, reports of multiple violations in belt 3-1
Miura Bull > stay safe and abide by the law civilian o/
Reiko Kisaragi > thanks ?

I quickly dock up my Firetail. The hostiles on scan are showing as Stabber, Brutix, Myrmidon, Raven and Scorpion. All are showing as being from the same corporation. All have unregistered hulls projecting their names across the cluster like a bright neon beacon. We will need more punch, now where did I park that.....
Comedy tech 1 fitted Hurricane with a sensor booster tank. Oh dear. A relic from an old comedic roam, a ship that perhaps should have fallen on the wayside but somehow now still remains in one piece. Time for one last hurrah?
I undock and blast open the warp drive on the Cane. I notice that there is only one ammo type in the hold, EMP. Great. As I land in the belt the hostile ships are leaving. I manage to pinpoint them to a nearby planet. I warp in again and they scatter, in different directions. I chase the Stabber and eventually I land 10 clicks off of him. Show time.
As I begin to punch at it with my tech one guns I await the incoming blab of his friends and soon enough they all land, at different ranges. The Stabber goes down in a ball of flames. I begin working on the Myrmidon, his shield is stripped away as the two battleships close range, slowly.
The EMP rounds aren't making a dent on the armor. And I am jammed. The Scorpion misses a cycle and I lock up the Raven, the Myrmidon has left the field. Shields nearly down, not making much dent on this Raven and again I am jammed. I pull some range and make an escape as the Myrmidon lands again accompanied by the Stabber guy in another Stabber.
What a weird series of events.

Postcards From The Edge #2
The Disappearing Machariel
The Jaguar is the ship I feel most comfortable in when taking on bigger quarry, and with a nosferatu fitted in the utility high-slot I can be confident of keeping all my modules running when I need them the most, id est, if I happen to get neuted. I also feel most comfortable dealing with drones with my webifier. In fact I'd go as far as saying I feel I will have more success in the Jaguar taking on the bigger boys than I would taking on other assault frigates, at this moment in time.
More recently I managed to snag a Zealot that was out ratting. I added this to the collection of tech 2 Amarr cruisers I seem to be getting the better of every time I undock a Jag. Previously, this odd looking Sacrilege and this even quirkier looking gate-camping Curse had all fallen to the mighty Jaguar. Not to mention the usual smattering of badly fitted cruisers and battlecruisers that you stumble upon in low-sec.
So imagine my surprise when out on my roam I spot a Machariel out ratting in the wilds of a low-sec asteroid field. There would be no hesitation whatsoever, I warped in and landed the tackle, no job too big when filled with confidence. I swiftly removed all the enemy drones from space and began working on the tank, mindful that he may have alliance mates on the way, I kept an eye on the scanner.
With his shields and armor stripped it was a case of the final onslaught to bring this giant ship to its knees, a mighty crash waiting to happen. And then, you know what is going to happen don't you?
Yes .... A self-destruct notification.
The autocannons are cooking, a race against time to the last point of hull. I check the heat status, close to 90%, but it looks like the last tiniest slither of structure is about to buckle and finally explode. It all goes quiet for a moment and then ..... The self-destruct is completed. Disbelief. It was probably ONE second away from being a killmail, it was that close. I sarcastically post up a gf in local but get no response.
Oh well.
Narzan19 scurries away in his capsule and I add this mugshot to my dartboard.

The Lord of the Rifters - Coming Soon
It began with the forging of the Great Rifters.
Three were given to the Sebiestor; immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings. Seven, to the Vherokior, great miners and craftsmen of the Minmatar regions. And nine, nine Rifters were gifted to the race of Brutor, who above all else desire power. For within these Rifters was bound the strength and the will to govern over each tech one frigate fight. But they were all of them deceived, for a new Rifter was made. In the land of Molden Heath, in the fires of Heild planet I and IV, the Dark Lord Wensley forged in secret, a master Rifter, to control all others. And into this Rifter he poured all his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all Rifter Guides.
One Rifter to rule them all.
One by one, the free peoples of Molden Heath and beyond fell to the power of the Rifter. But there were some who resisted. A last alliance of anti-pirates marched against the armies of Molden Heath, and on the very gates of Bosena, they fought for the freedom of the Molden Heath people. Victory was near, they even posted about it on the forums but the power of the Rifter could not be undone. It was in this moment, when all hope had faded, that the fleet of anti-pirates uncloaked a Falcon. And Wensley, enemy of the free peoples of Molden Heath, was defeated.
The Rifter passed to the anti-pirates, who had this one chance to destroy evil forever, but the hearts of anti-pirates are easily corrupted. And the Rifter of Power has a will of its own. It betrayed them, to their death. And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost. History became legend. Legend became myth. And for two and a half thousand downtimes, the Rifter passed out of all knowledge.
Until, when chance came, the Rifter ensnared another bearer. The Rifter came to the creature Nergalion, who took it deep into the heart of the Great Wildlands, and there it consumed him. The Rifter gave to Nergalion unnatural long racial ECM jam life. For five different patch updates it poisoned his fittings; and in the gloom of Nergalion's station, it waited.
We wants it, we needs it. Must have the plex. They stole it from us. Sneaky little R1FTA's
Darkness crept back into the systems of New Eden.
Rumour grew of a shadow in the Heath, whispers of a nameless fear, and the Rifter of Power perceived. Its time had now come. It abandoned Nergalion. But then something happened that the Rifter did not intend. It was picked up by the most unlikely creature imaginable. A noob Brutor, Miura Bull, of Ammold. For the time will soon come when noobs in Rifters will shape the fortunes of all...

Violent Intentions and the Thoughts of a Madman (part I)
Closing my eyes I glimpse tangents of atrocities past, the end result of the dogfights, the massacres at stargates and the blood that seemingly flows and tells a story in every asteroid belt I ever visited. I see the manufactured skulls of my enemies gazing straight back at me, these wild visions are haunting me. I see beautiful arch-like displays stacked like glorious trophies brought back from the battlefield.
The Angel of Death flies overhead, descends and kills, and then he goes. But he craves more and now his addiction to death and destruction is a mind-killer. No, a poison, of which the only remedy is more killing, more fuel for the machine. This is what violence does. This is what violence is. Give me more violence!
The room stank heavily of cigarettes. Dark figures moved against the pale unseen background, the darkness broken occasionally by the dark-green flicker of the monitors and the ends of lit cigarettes that glowed like little fireflies buzzing around the room. A loud boom and what sounded like a thunder roll echoed and then cracked outside. One of the Rebels rose from his seat, the light from his cigarette lighter bringing him into existence for a short moment before again he disappeared back into the darkness that snapped around him.
I broke away from my lazy daydreaming for a moment. It was time to get out of the office and execute retribution upon my enemy. Or at least die trying.

The Devil's Playground
The recent assault frigate buff meant that I had quite a few fitted and rigged assault frigates with empty slots, all scattered across New Eden in a random fashion. Jaguars, Wolfs and Vengeances to be exact. Now I only owned three different assault frigates but boy did I own some. Literally hundreds of the little firecrackers. However, seeing as most of these frigates were in remote places, I certainly wasn't planning on modifying them too much.
I flew to the relevant stashes and sorted through the ships. I must admit that I took the lazy approach to modification. I definitely did not intend on doing any hauling of new goods to these remote outposts. My plans were something like this:
1. Check my hangar for spare parts/junk/loot that might fit into the newly available slots.
2. Check the station's market for any modules that might be available for purchase and that may fit.
3. If desperate, check through cargoholds for anything lurking that might be fit for purpose.
4. If even more desperate. Check the asteroid belts for rat wrecks for any parts that would fit. (Didn't quite go this far but I was tempted)
5. If none of the above options were available. Repackage the fitted and rigged ships and put them on the market.
It turned out that I had nothing available for the Vengeance. Where they were based I had quite a bit of junk and some other ships that I no longer needed so I arranged for it all to be repackaged and sent to a main trade hub via the croaking midnight courier.
Nearly all my Jaguars I got lucky with and was able to buy and stick a Nanofiber Internal Structure II on them, regardless of how they were fit previously they all now have a Nano fitted or an extra Nano in some cases. An extra nano can't hurt, right? Quite a few of the Jags however were unlucky and I had to again dismantle them and send to market.
It was a similar story with the Wolf. Half of them I just threw a Tracking Enhancer II on because that's what I had in the hangar. Couple this with the metastasis rig on some of them and the autocannons on these Wolfs should be able to track a marble falling through space. I liked the Wolf better with poor tracking in all honesty. It made things a little more interesting come dogfight time. Some of the Wolfs I threw a repper on or an extra resist mod. But, again quite a few had to be given the silver bullet.
Anyway, I managed to make a good turn of ISK by selling quite a good number of these overpowered demons at over-inflated prices and I still have some to play with. Result!
---
I had five spare unfitted Jaguars in my hangar in Heild. With the new changes I thought I'd try a wacky fit to try and counter blaster boats. The plan being twin neutralizers that can be run permanently to literally shut off the blaster boat weapon systems and I would also sport a kinetic and thermic hardener to minimize the incoming hybrid damage types. In theory it might work by plinking away at a boat with no capacitor.
Unfortunately theory doesn't always work as you hope it to.
The first outing of this ship did not end too well. Although a tough ask going up against a good friend and old corpmate in Raxip who, if this was a boxing match would have 3 years of skills and experience over me. Not to mention the fact he is a damned good pilot. Although I did take Raxip to hull, which isn't that good really against the Gallente, but still. I was also hoping that Raxip had left the Nosferatu module at home and I also tried to second guess he would be plugging his resist hole so I went with EMP ammo. A bad choice but a good fight. I have four of these left, I am wondering if against a lesser pilot it might do its job. Time will tell I guess. It is definitely a situational ship.

Jaguars do not end in boom sound. They end with fanfare and go straight to heaven.
This particular Jaguar that I was piloting was loosely based off the famed Alex fit that I must admit to being a massive fan of. This particular Jaguar also had a brand new Nanofiber fitted to it (surprise!). This particular Jaguar wasn't quite ready for the fanfare.
Running the Devil's Playground that takes you from Heimatar and up into the belly of the Metropolis region through the choke-point system of Eszur is a dangerous run. It is especially dangerous to those on the wrong side of the law. Notorious space-lane robbers, murderous executioners who scout the whole pipe and lay in wait with fast-locking Thrasher camps ready to strike are a constant menace for those navigating the pass. So much so that most pilots will avoid the area completely and pod run through high-sec or clone jump over the area to get to their destination.
In this instance this wasn't an option, I was in a hurry.
As the stargate flashed in Eszur and I waited my cloak timer I was confronted by a Curse 15 clicks away. A scary sight indeed, even more so the fact it looked like it was ready for a fast lock. It was guarding the gate like Lucifer himself would guard the Gates of Hell.
Running would not be an option.
I dropped my cloak and the Curse went red to me in a flash. My heart instantly started pumping faster, somebody had just stabbed me in the back with a massive shot of adrenaline. I smashed open the afterburner and burnt straight for the Curse, on the edge of scram and web range my capacitor failed on me. I was bled dry, completely dead in the water with the exception of my cannons. Drones began to eat away at the Jaguar's shield systems. My autocannons were hot, but I wasn't even close to doing any damage.
I had to somehow get in Nosferatu range to give me any chance of regaining my capacitor levels. I was running out of time but remarkably I managed to get in close, for a brief moment I had scrammed and webbed the Curse after the Nosferatu module began spitting its blood-red fire at the dark and moody Recon ship.
Both shields stripped away it was now a straight up burn to the finish line. Both our armour disappeared fast. We both had no damage control fitted. I was living by the skin of my teeth. My tiny amount of capacitor allowing me to micro-manage my modules.
As we both slipped into structure and the real possibilty of the dreaded structure bleed kicking in I banged my knee hard on the underside of my desk, the adrenaline was running that strong that my leg was performing involuntary movements.
Then there was a flash and it all went quiet for a moment.

The Budding Ideas of Miura Bull
They were, with one exception, not original but picked up, raw, from the churning maelstrom of the life of piracy and the first years of his awkward life amongst the pirates. The old ways were dying of indigestion and it was time to tap into something new. For years the old breed had ruled with an iron fist and with the black flag raised high above the storm. They had stamped their unique language and their romantic culture on it. But the grip was slipping, weakening. The minorities, the outcasts could not be digested.
Piracy and in particular, solo pvp, was a melting pot. It was also bubbling and spewing out its contents to a wider audience. Ready to explode onto the scene.
Now, as the new era began, the various new school started to sprout like a beautiful wild flower. The various Brutor, Sebiestor and Vherok cool kids. Cast away from the chains, the boundaries removed, hungry for a share of the spoils and a slice of the pie. But it didn't stop at the Minmatar race. Gallentean punks more accustomed to the pop scene and fizzy drink dispensers. Caldari capitalist pig-dogs and even the Slavers from as far away as Amarr Prime were negotiating a route down the well-trodden path.
It was this new ideology that would shine like a fiery beacon on the new generation. Crazy and outlandish fits and tactics that were berated on paper but when put out on the field would reap the token killmails that these new kids chased. And chased they did. Meteoric rises up killboard ladders and ever more daring and outlandish attempts at gaining the kills that they craved like a drug.
But this was not all.
There was social revolt too and this often transcended into a downward struggle. The ever more unpopular lower classes of New Eden (in the eyes of the pirate) were demanding the ballot, a change for good, a cry of angst for more protection and the introduction of mind-boggling rules and stipulation. The workers and industrialist sector were insisting on the right to organize safe havens and no-fly-zones away from the grasps of the pirates and their bloodstained morals. Away from their guns and fearsome looking spaceships and modified weapon systems.
To these developments Miura, the fanatical young Brutor nationalist from Ammold, was bitterly opposed. To him New Eden was sinking into a foul swamp of bias and ignorance. It could be saved only if the master profession, piracy, reasserted its absolute authority. To Miura, those who followed the other professions were an inferior people. It was up to the pirates and to some extent the general pvp combat capsuleer community to rule them with an iron hand. Coalitions must be abolished and an end put to all the democratic 'nonsense'.
Though he took no part in the general politics of New Eden, Miura followed avidly the activities and killboards of some of the major players in the pvp world. He studied them like a hawk would study his next possible meal. And there now began to sprout in the mind of this wannabe leader, in the locker rooms of some Roden Shipyard hangar, a sense of clarity of a future goal and a vision. He could see his vision with amazing clarity. It was sharp and focused albeit quite barbaric by some standards. This vision burned down on him from above like the morning light bursting through the top of a dark cave on a Summer's morning. He wanted to mature and become a Master Leader and he knew exactly how he could do it.
At first contact he developed a furious hatred towards those that hunted his profession, actively engaging in trying to put down the piracy movement.
"What most repelled me," he says, "was its hostile attitude towards the piracy movement and in particular the way that these do-gooders would hide behind their shiny security status and strength in numbers approach."
In the first few months out in the spacelanes Miura had obtained what might have otherwise required decades: an understanding of a pestilential machine, cloaking itself as some kind of social virtue to the good community and spreading the righteous word of brotherly love amongst its followers and any other ear that was listening.
And yet he was already intelligent enough to quench his feelings of rage against these coalitions that were springing out of the ground at alarming rates. He was able to examine carefully the reason for their apparent success and championing. He concluded that there were several reasons, and years later he was to remember them and utilize them in building up the Black Rebel Rifter Club.
One day, he recounts in his journal, he witnessed an organized gate camp, a mass bundle of ships and crew, ducking and diving from the safety net of high-sec into the jungle of low-sec to commit sin against his pirate brethren.
"For nearly two hours I sat there cloaked watching with bated breath and an itchy trigger finger. This gigantic ball of slime slowly going about their 'work' like some kind of heroic super-machine. In oppressed anxiety I finally left the place and cruised homeward."
During downtimes he began to read the workings of veterans and those who were already mastering the art of which he craved. Kane Rizzel, Ka Jolo, Wensley, Sard Caid, Skira Ranos and many, many others. He studied their writings, looked deeply into their organizations and reflected on their psychology and techniques and he pondered the results that had churned in his wicked mind. He came to three conclusions: They all knew how to create a mass movement, without which any corporation and idea would be useless; they had learned the art of propaganda among the masses; and, finally, they knew the value of using what he calls "spiritual and physical terror."
This lesson, although it was based on his own observations and a sort of narrow-minded blinkered view, certainly intrigued the young Miura. Within six months he would put it to good use for his own ends.
