An Abaddon was running a mission in Curse region. Two people in local, just him and me. My covert ops buddy was a few jumps out and I was in a capsule after dropping off a hull in nearby Sendaya.
I docked up and jumped into my trusty Wolf as my covert ops sidekick dropped probes in the system. At this point I fully expected him to see the probes and warp to safety--he didn't, and within 40 seconds or so I had his position at 100%.
I dropped out of warp smack bang on top of the battleship and landed the scram, settling into a tight orbit I began taking a moderate amount of damage from a batch of tech one medium drones. Nothing to cause any panic but I decided to kill off the drones just in case any unexpected company arrived to help the stricken battleship.
The hulking beast of a ship did not want to die. All the time that I am shooting at it local seemed to be getting busier and I watch for backup, constantly blipping the D-scan, but nothing arrives. Eventually after what seemed like an eternity the ship finally explodes in a glorious display of burning hot metal.
I was not expecting it to be so shiny. I had actually warped away from the scene without first checking the loot. After looking at the killmail I immediately warped back to claim my booty. Next time I will check the wreck first I think. The tech one Heat Sinks did raise a chuckle.
I think it took around about ten maybe fifteen minutes or so to destroy the behemoth ship. But when you know that backup is likely on the way, time seems to grind to a halt. Incidentally, when I docked for repairs I noticed two or three corpmates of the Abaddon pilot show up in local in destroyers, a little too late for a rescue party.
MB.
Very nice kill. I've been thinking about a holiday in curse. How is it for solo pvp?
ReplyDeleteIt can be both rewarding and frustrating. Personally speaking, I love it out here. There's a good deal of people flying around solo and the odd small gang to take on. But at the same time you have the huge blobs to avoid and there is also the sabre/falcon duos you will occasionally find.
DeleteAll in all I feel it is a good mix for the solo pvper, if you can take the odd falconing and getting caught by the odd gang on the chin.
Seems like a player with more isk as sense.
ReplyDeleteHis other loss was a navy apocalypse with t1 fit.
10-15 minute fight, no danger of running out of ammunition?
Oh damn yeah just looked at that fit /o\. I had a good stash of ammo with me, 2000 of hail barrage rep fleet emp fusion and pp. I don't think I'd have ran out. What catches me out is rockets, if I am in a dedicated rocket boat I always run out of ammo or get dangerously close!
Deletenice work, and the loot gods obviously favour you!
ReplyDeleteFor a change! :P
DeleteVery nice MB! I was headed out your way late last week in a wolf and never made it!! Damn blobs!
ReplyDeleteProbably bought a bunch of plex, sold them, and then bought the shiny faction stuff thinking "This is expensive I'll be safe" and ran out of money for the heat sinks.
ReplyDeleteMost likely can't use a single T2 item.
He had a shiny point fitted, he must have been expecting someone to turn up. Nice loots.
